SAFE-RH in Brief

SAFE-Rural-Health program aims to build a digital healthcare community that bridges the gap in knowledge between health and computing and addresses the present and future complexities of design and development of digital health solutions. The intent of SAFE-Rural-Health in Pakistan is to support the provision of health care services to reduce the mortality rate of women and children, to timely address the maternity related issues in remote areas and to monitor old people.

Applying Remote Health Monitoring in rural areas of Pakistan to deliver and assist with the delivery of healthcare services can reduce or minimize challenges and burdens patients' encounter, such as transportation issues related to traveling for specialty care. Remote Health Monitoring can also improve monitoring, timeliness, and communications within the healthcare system.

Challenges In Rural Health

In the target country Pakistan, the use of smart technologies in health is considerably limited than in the EU. The health sector in Pakistan would enormously benefit from emerging technologies as well as technical expertise to ensure high productivity at a global level. The challenges facing these countries to grow their basic health provision urgently need them to develop their technical, management and administrative skills to maintain high-tech to be used in the health to address maternal and children mortality rate, care of old people. The EU and Pakistan HEIs can play huge role for promoting technologies to improve the quality and health in rural areas by providing appropriate training and curriculum.
